Eco-Resort and Kayaking Expedition (8-Day)
Eco-Resort Only: Kayak, Hike, Snorkel, Relax (5- & 6-Day)
Your Sea of Cortez adventures begins at the historic mission town of Loreto on the Baja Peninsula’s undisturbed and sheltered eastern shore. From Loreto’s beaches one can see the uninhabited desert islands of Danzante and Carmen rising steeply from the deep blue waters of the Sea of Cortez.

Among our favorite offerings is an 8-day combination trip in which we'll spend 3 blissful days and nights at a comfortable secluded beachfront eco-resort approximately 20 miles south of Loreto, and 4 exciting days kayaking and camping in the pristine and remote islands and coastline of the Loreto Marine Park. The final day will be spent enjoying the charming town of Loreto. Both 5- and 6-day resort-only trips are also available, as are 8-day Magdalena Bay combination trips that include both the Sea of Cortez eco-resort and whale watching at Mag Bay (available from late January thru mid-March) See: Dates and Prices
This resort offers you a unique opportunity to unwind at a serene sandy cove where the Baja desert meets the Sea of Cortez. Set your clock to nature’s time, be free of demands and expectations, and discover a profoundly rewarding and healing experience.
The resort features simple living by the sea in individual secluded bungalows called "casitas." Some are nestled privately in the white sand dunes while others overlook the beach and beautiful secluded bay of Ensenada Blanca. Kick back in your hammock, relax, and watch the natural world slowly revolve around you. Each casita is very separate from all other structures and is quite private. Each has either one queen or two single beds.
At the resort, food is prepared for you in an open-air kitchen by local Mexican cooks. All the food is mainly organic and always fresh. A variety of local fresh seafood is always plentiful and locally grown fruits and vegetables will satisfy the most discerning vegetarian diet. Don't worry about drinking the water here. Water at the resort is as pure and fresh as it gets anywhere. It comes from a mountain spring well in the Sierra de La Giganta mountains behind the resort.
The showers and toilet facilities are located a short walk from your casita through the fine desert sand and are also built to be sensitive to the environment. The showers are solar-heated and, because water is the
desert's most precious resource, the supply is limited though quite sufficient. The run-off from the showers is then re-used to water the plants.
Many activities at the resort are included
in your tour price, such as guided hikes, nature and plant walks, snorkeling,
and guided explorations of this beautiful and remote section of coast by kayak.
Options available at low cost include free-diving, yoga classes, massage and breathwork sessions, facials, horseback riding and mule rides.
Optional excursions by panga (motorized skiff) include sport fishing, Sea of Cortez whale watching (for fin backs, blues, pilots, humpbacks and occasional orcas), day trips to Magdalena Bay (during gray whale season, February thru mid-March). Also, depending
on weather and tides, many visitors enjoy a day trip to soak
in some wonderful thermally heated tidal pools at the edge of the Sea of Cortez!
The expedition portion will be spent kayaking and camping on remote beaches in the Loreto Marine Park, filling our days with kayaking, exploration and just plain relaxing. Secluded white sand beaches, azure seas and brilliant blue skies are home to frigate birds, osprey, pelicans, blue-footed boobies, dolphins, sea lions, rays and a myriad of tropical fish. We may even catch an occasional glimpse of a spouting whale or surfacing sea turtle on this remarkable trek.
Our experienced guides have traveled extensively in Baja and have intimate knowledge of the area’s rich natural history. As skilled kayak instructors, they also provide training for those guests interested in developing their paddling skills. Whether you want to study the area's unique bird, fish and plant life, work on your roll, or just enjoy getting a tan ... this Baja trip will be a memorable adventure.
Baja Sea Kayaking at Its Finest!
Imagine waking up in your tent on an island in the Sea of Cortez. The first thing you notice is ... the quiet! Just the faint lapping of waves on the beach break the morning silence. You step outside and the cool sand massages your feet as you slip into your Tevas. The golden rays of the sunrise promise a hot day to come. You look west across the water, crystal blue in the morning light. The sun is lighting up the 4000 foot peaks of the Sierra Gigantes across the way. It's going to be a great day, one filled with exercise, camaraderie, laughter and friendship. A day of exploration and learning. A day of surprises, new sights and discoveries in nature. A day of practicing kayaking skills. A day of being led by experts, of being in good hands.
After a hearty breakfast, you prepare your kayak for launch. In the water, you see the texture of the coral and the sea stars hidden in every nook and cranny. You are on your way to our next camp, where new sights and adventures await.
As your kayak glides across the calm blue waters, you hear the sounds of sea lions snorting and jumping off the rocks up ahead. Then the familiar high whistling call of an Osprey up above. The group rounds a point that looked far ahead just a little while ago. A ray jumps out of the water. The guide tells the group, "Keep your eyes peeled for whales; there were Humpbacks out here yesterday." You scan the horizon for the tell-tale spray plume.
Following set-up at the next camp, enjoy a tide-pool walk, snorkeling in clear turquoise water in a secluded cove, an afternoon hike, a great dinner. Reds, oranges and golds splash across the sky and water in another magnificent sunset. You don't want this trip to end ...
