Overnight Kayaking and Camping

Sleep under the stars ... enjoy the tranquility of Tomales Bay!

image overnight kayaking and camping
Imagine camping on a beautiful beach in the Point Reyes National Seashore - one that can only be reached by water. Tomales Bay has a number of these remote beaches where camping is permitted and which are located within a short paddle from Blue Waters.

We offer a variety of services to help make your kayak camping adventure a success such as guide services, catered camping trips, motorboat support (where we motor your gear to your campsite), and also a do-it-yourself overnight or weekend rental. Our closed-deck kayaks have enough storage for your camping gear, sleeping bag, clothes and food.

OUR MOTORBOAT SUPPORT POLICY: Motorboat support is available to transport camping gear and equipment from our MARSHALL site to your campsite at Marshall Beach or Tomales Beach and back. This service makes camping with sit-on-tops, which do not carry as much gear, more doable. It also makes it possible to set up a comfortable base camp with items which are not readily tranportable by kayak, such as tables, chairs, coolers, firewood etc.

The fee for this round-trip service is $25 per person, to our rental customers. The minimum charge for this service is $150. Upon request we can try to group small parties together to offset this minimum fee. For Tomales Bay sites north of Tomales Beach, a fuel/time surcharge will apply. Click here for Motorboat policy.

NOTE: We charge by the load. One motorboat load usually accommodates 6 campers. One load in volume is no larger than 4'w x6.5'l x2.5'h, 65 cu ft, (about a small pickup truck load), and can be up to 600 lbs. in weight. BWK will charge extra for loads exceeding these guidelines.

HAPPY CAMPING!

Please call the National Park Service at (415) 663-8054 (Mon.-Fri., 9-2) for a camping permit. You can visit the Point Reyes National Seashore website for more information: see www.nps.gov/pore/activ_kayak.htm.
