8-Day Whale Watching Itinerary

Day One
Our friendly local transportation service greets you at the airport and transports you to your hotel in the quaint, charming town of Loreto. Once the group has settled in, a Blue Waters representative will answer questions, discuss trip details and offer packing tips to help prepare you for the next leg of your adventure,. Participants are then free to join each other for dinner on the town and an evening stroll along the palm-lined waterfront of Loreto.

Day Two
After breakfast, our Blue Waters van transports you from the hotel through the picturesque Baja desert, toward the Pacific coast. We have lunch en route and, in the early afternoon, our guides greet us on the shore of Bahia Magdalena. We load our gear into our kayaks and have an introductory paddle lesson. We then set off through the beautiful mangrove estuaries and paddle to our beach island home, where we settle into camp and surrender to Baja time.

Days Three - Six
We spend much of the next four days in the majestic presence of gray whale mothers and calves. We’ll walk the expansive sand dune beaches and paddle in mangrove estuaries, observing bird life at every turn. Our guides are excited to share their knowledge of the area’s natural history and marine ecology, and are ready to assist you in developing your sea kayaking skills. You can have your own private self-rescue training sessions right alongside our camp’s beach! We might wake up one morning before sunrise to greet the day on the water. Or we may take an evening paddle and locate early spring constellations, marvel at the water's bioluminescence, and listen to the sounds of the whales blowing.

Day Seven
After breakfast, we pack up our kayaks and paddle to the mainland. We have lunch together en route to Loreto, returning to the hotel in time for a hot shower and our last evening on the town.

Day Eight
Depending on your departure time, you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast, visit the mission, or stroll through the lovely shops of Loreto. Our van picks you up at the hotel and takes you to the airport. Return home, refreshed and renewed, with many fond memories of our days on Bahia Magdalena, shared with newfound friends.
